About Us

Founded in 2013 by Michael Lucas, Traction Rail Electrical (TRE) is a specialist Electrification & Plant (E&P) design and construction contractor serving the UK rail industry and other infrastructure sectors.

Based in Polhill, Kent, we work across Greater London, the south-east, southern England and beyond, with a focus on third-rail DC systems in the Network Rail Southern Region. 

Since gaining RISQS accreditation in 2016, we’ve worked with clients including Network Rail, McNicholas (now Kier), Octavius Infrastructure, Docklands Light Railway/Transport for London, UK Power Networks Services, and many more.

TRE is proud to be a family-run business, built on strong values, trust, and a commitment to quality. 

Since its founding, the company has grown organically—without any outside investment—relying solely on its reputation, relationships, and the dedication of its team. 

This independence has allowed TRE to maintain full control over its direction, culture, and standards, ensuring that every project reflects the company’s core values and long-term vision.
